The House of Children 15,000 bricks closer to its construction, thanks to the donation of “Borica – Bankservice” AD
On the Christmas Eve “Borica – Bankservice” AD donated BGN 15,000 to the National Network for Children for the House of Children project. The company supported the ambitious project of the Network for Children – a union of 137 civic organizations from across the country working for and with children and families.
The project to build a House of Children started in 2016. It aims the creation of a new, modern and contemporary House for Children from across the country – a place for events and training center which will work to develop these important skills that will be needed TOMORROW to our children to be successful people and leaders. The House will be a place for work and exchange of ideas of all 137 civil society organizations, members of the Network, working for the welfare of Bulgarian children.
The House of Children will provide an active and growing environment for children of different groups, ages, family background and interests. It will be open to children from all over the country and will be continuously available place where children and adults will be able to train and work together in building and protecting children’s rights.
When being built, the House is to be managed as a social enterprise and it would give sustainability in time and opportunity for young people coming out of institutions or foster care to work and train in labor skills.
In the autumn of 2016 National Network for Children bought the land where the House will be built with the financial support from two international foundations – OAK and Velux. The place is located on the “Hristo Botev” Blvd and the “Sofronii Vrachanski” Str close to the 46th Primary School “Konstantin Fotinov”. In the beginning of the year the National Network for Children will announce a public competition for conceptual architectural project to build the House. It is expected that turning the first sod will be made in the summer of 2017, and construction works and equipment will be completed in about two years.
