Introducing a new POS terminal into operation in the BORICA system goes through a process of certification, and is performed based on a contract with the supplier. The terminals should meet the requirements listed below:
- POS terminals should be certified under the PCI PTS Device Program;
- POS terminals should be in the certified devices list, which is located at the following address: https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/approved_companies_providers/approved_pin_transaction_security.php;
- If the POS terminal uses external keypad, it should also be in the list of certified PCI DSS devices;
- Loading keys onto the POS terminal is performed in accordance with the interface developed by BORICA. The interface’s documentation is provided upon conclusion of the POS certification contract.
Preparation for installation and initial POS registration and setup with base parameters
The preparation includes loading the necessary software and parameters onto the POS terminal, its registration in the authorization system, and performing operations that ensure the correct operation of the terminal with the BORICA system.
The service “Initial POS registration and setup with base parameters” is provided. It consists of loading an application, fictitious parameters for the merchant, TID, keys and registration in the TMS (Terminal Management System) and the authorization system based on a standard (general) request submitted by the bank.
BORICA also performs initialization of POS terminals after repair or replacement.
POS activation and deactivation
Upon activation, the specific parameters for the merchant and the location are loaded onto the POS terminal. They replace the dummy parameters in the systems. Upon deactivation, the POS terminal parameters return to their initial state with fictitious data. The terminal stores its TID and can be activated at another merchant’s location upon request, without physically returning to BORICA.
Terminal request registration system (TermReq)
Requests for installation of ATM and POS terminals, initial POS registration and setup with base parameters, POS activation and deactivation, as well as change of particular POS parameters, shall be submitted by banks and payment institutions via the TermReq system operated by BORICA.
Services related to POS initialization, as well as the possibility for registration and setup with base parameters, subsequent activation and deactivation of a POS terminal, also changing its parameters, allow banks and payment institutions to manage easily and flexibly their network of POS terminals and merchants they service, without sending the terminals to BORICA upon any change.
