“TOGETHER WITH YOU" – BORICA and SOS Children's Villages with a joint project in support of children from vulnerable groups
BORICA and SOS Children's Villages Bulgaria unite to ensure the education of children at risk. The project “Together with you” is a joint initiative of BORICA and SOS Children's Villages Bulgaria, focused on the education and development of children deprived of parental care or at risk of losing it. It is a long-term project and started at the beginning of February 2018.
The main goals set by the organizers are:
- Increasing the degree of inclusion of socially disadvantaged children in the educational system;
- Increasing the motivation of children to visit school by engaging in school extracurricular activities, talent and new skills development;
- Prevention of emotional-behavioral manifestations by identifying problems in the development and education of children and specialized work on them.
“Together with you" covers over 100 school-age children growing up in SOS foster families in Sofia, Pernik and SOS Children's Village Tryavna, as well as over 250 school-age children supported by the SOS Centers for public support in Sofia, Pernik, Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo.
The activities, part of the project, are focused on three main areas: individual and group work with specialists, talent and skills development and extracurricular activities.
Building a positive attitude in children towards school and towards themselves is a long process. "Together with you" is set as a long-term project, the result of good intentions, social responsibility, mutual trust and competencies of BORICA and SOS Children's Villages Bulgaria. The project will provide real chances for children, subject to compulsory education, to return to school, it will work on increasing their literacy, socialization, skills, self-assessment and consequently their quality of life.
"Access to quality education is one of the most important issues facing our society and vulnerable groups need special attention," shares Miroslav Vichev, Chief Executive Officer of BORICA. "It is no coincidence that the project is called “Together with you" – the aim is to give each child individual support and motivation. A team of specialists and volunteers from BORICA will learn, play sports and develop talents together with the children," he adds.
